As the first month of the new year (2025) winds down, we hope you have settled into a positive forward-moving routine. Brooke and I think we have. We are making plans for future episodes of our podcast and are looking forward to improving how it looks to an audience and how we sound on recordings. We want the podcast to be a fun, safe space for us and for our veiwers/listeners. We want to be comfortably ourselves. That is exactly our reason for doing the podcast… we are exploring and learning every day how to be comfortable as the only people we know how to be… ourselves.
As readers, I want you to be comfortably yourself as well. Life is hard enough. You should not add impossible tasks such as being something or someone you are not… not your authentic self… to your agenda. The uniqueness we all bring to the world is something we should all be appreciative of and embrace for the good of everything and everyone. We should never put others down for being true to who they are. That only shows how little confidence we have in ourselves. Imagine if we all had the same ideas for a task. The task would always be the same and the same few people would be the only ones completing the task… and we would never learn to improve… we would never have space for differences. Learning from differences makes us more intelligent.
As we open up spaces to be more inclusive our need for masks/masking dissipates. We learn that empathy is a strength, not a weakness… we become more accepting rather than exclusive to only those who look, think, and act like us… we learn how to love and accept more fully… we open up spaces to be accepted ourselves rather than being left out. Isn’t that what many of us want? To be accepted for who we are… to be loved unconditionallly? I know for me, so much of my unhappiness is because I do not feel accepted.
So… I want to challenge myself to be a better listener so that I become a more accepting person. I have lived up to my namesake long enough (Deborah the Judge)… I am ready to be better.
How about you? Will you join me on this journey?
